Summer Grab-Bag
Summer has vanished, leaving such an assortment of events and experiences! I am sharing a few photos to capture some memories as a reminder of this very different season for us.
Doug's dream for a sunroom is materializing. Peter was totally immersed in the building process and hung out with the men. Russell invited him to help and then awarded him a real tape measure, which Peter treasured, carrying it hooked to his pants every day ( and which he even took to bed with him!)

Peter loved the tape measure which Russ gave to him. He measured for the men too! That boy loved his tape so much he took it with him to bed. That's an All- American boy for you.

All right. I just don't have the patience to get these photos in order of occurrence. So I'm just going to show them out of order so we can see them, at least, and remember!
July 25th accident: broke wrist and arm. Here is my cast. I really didn't feel like smiling.
This is our physical therapist, Jonathan Crampton. He was extraordinary. In a few weeks he had Doug walking down the driveway for 93 feet, then 123, and finally 200 feet before the winter closed in on us. A British convert and an avid runner, he used his sense of humor to keep Doug on track. (No pun intended.) This was the first time in a very long time that Doug used his walker again. Huge achievement! Only he could make Doug move. Thanks formaking our summer, Jon!
I took this photo of Becca one day and just had to include it to show how fast she is growing up and what a lovely girl she is.
Later in the summer when my wrist had healed, I used some of our fresh peaches to bake a peach-blueberry pie. Yummy! I sure missed being able to use those hands to garden and can .

The Morleys left Bakersfield to visit a few days. Here are Jonathan and Peter playing a game.

the rains started after all the contrete was jackhammered out, and the unseasonal May weather did not clear up for ten days!
Imagine how fun it was getting the wheelchair in and out of the house.
Doug became very housebound
Finally the border was poured.
This is the contractor, Ofa Kaufusi, a father of six and owner of the concrete company. I'd say this is the way to stay fit and you can see that he certainly is.
Of course there were water fights and fun on those hot summer days. Behind the girls you can see I did get a few tomato plants in the ground before my wrist was broken. Serendipity.

brothers and sisters to teach and baptize!
See you in two years! Don't forget to write!We were also visited by Cindy, my sister Judy's daughter, and husband Chris Smith who brought their four children to see everyone too. So good to renew our friendships and become acquainted with their children Solei, Sierra, Caden, Taron, and Ella.
These memories helped to make our summer delightful in spite of Doug's pneumonia and my accident.
